Reflections of the past year.

Of course as 2012 ends and we are facing 2013 I find that I'm evaluating, reflecting, resoluting (is that a word?) 2012 has been an adventure of a year. Adventure has been the word we have used a lot in our family this year. What have been my top 10 adventures this year?

10. Accepting a new position with my job. I am officially the Lead MHP/CDP (Mental health Professional/Chemical Dependency Professional) for the Co-Occurring team in the Mental health Team. This has been a long time coming in my life and I'm so thrilled about this new challenge in my career.

9. Being a mother of a preschooler. I love taking her to school, dropping her off, going to her programs, volunteering at the school, taking snack. I love everything about being a preschooler mom.

8. Celebrating 7 years of marriage with Jason. Though we have our tough/rotten moments, overall we are very happy and have created a lovely family of 4.

7. Trying something new (kinda). Stepping out of my comfort zone and playing on a softball team. Yes I played when I was younger, but that has been nearly 15 years ago! I was unable to finish the season due to Jason's change in job that made it so I couldn't attend the games/practice times. But I enjoyed the time that I did get to play with the team. It was hard, but fun.

6. Family trip to Winston, Oregon to the Wildlife Safari. We took our first family road trip. Jason, Debbie, Jeff, Hannah, Addison and I. What an amazing, fun, silly, quick trip it was! I am so thrilled that Debbie and Jeff joined us on this trip, it was GREAT! It was amazing to watch Hannah be amazed at the animals being right outside the window in the van. As well as riding a camel with myh daughter. Can you believe it, I rode a camel!

5. Swim fishing. . . really this was more of a spectator event. I got to watch my husband attempt to go canoeing with Hannah. The flaw in his plan, have Hannah in the canoe before he got in. In the end, Jason tipped the canoe, and Hannah got soaked as did Jason. We have lovingly referred to this event as the "swim fishing event."

4. Camping. Any and all camping experience is cherished! I love to camp- I love to take my kids camping, because they seem to enjoy it as well. We didn't do as many this year as we have in the past. Camping with a newborn is kinda difficult at times. We did make it to Mossyrock/Riffe Lake a couple of times and we made it to Bar View Jetty with a group!

3. Exploring the nature around our area. Hikes at Beacon Rock, Multnomah Falls and a few other hikes that we explored in our area.

2. Maternity leave at the beginning of the year. I started out the year focused on being a mom for our 2 daughters. This set up the tone for the whole year I think. We have been very focused on our family this year. I am very proud that I have managed to keep that priority very high on my list and so far have been able to juggle the things that needed to be juggled and family time didn't have to be compromised.

1. Experiencing a year of Firsts- First School photo (Hannah), First School program (Hannah), First step (Addy), First Word (Addy, by the way it was Dada), First Birthday (Addy).

Overall it's been a great year for all of us. I know without a doubt that 2013 will bring some amazing new adventures as well. I know that Hannah will be going to Kindergarten in the fall. I know that Jason will be welcomed into the club of 30 something. Addison will continue to grow and develop. I believe that there will be a few other adventures along the way that have been a long time coming, but know that only time will tell exactly what we will face in 2013. I am excited, anxious, scared for some of the adventures that I'm sure we will face.

Here's to another year of adventures and challenges.

J.
